PRICING
No hourly rates or unexpected surprises
Engaging a lawyer costs money - there's no way around that. But it's good to know what your costs will be before you begin.
Most lawyers still persist in charging their clients on an hourly rate. Not only can this be inefficient from the lawyer's point of view (as it involves accurately recording one's time) but, more importantly, it creates uncertainty (and usually extra cost) for the client. You want to pay for the service performed, not how long it is going to take the lawyer to perform that service.
When you come to Matthew, he will tailor a pricing plan to suit your needs. For things like conveyancing and wills, that will most likely be a fixed lump sum price. For litigation and complex matters, Matthew will tailor a plan to suit your needs where you will receive an estimate of the likely costs of the proceeding and a schedule of fixed prices for each item in the litigation process. In that way, you know what everything will cost before you commit and you won't receive any unexpected surprises.
